It’s Time to Relax! What about a wellness retreat?

During these stressful times, people are adapting to a new way of life. A push on the reset button is something many need to consider. Taking your loved one, your precious family, or good friend to a spa is one way to let go of these crazy times.

The definition of a spa has changed dramatically over the last ten years or so. In fact, it’s fair to say that the definition, as well as spa service itself, has “evolved.” A spa is now more than simply a place for exercise classes, beauty treatments, massages and facials. There is a greater focus on mindfulness and treating the needs of the entire mind and body.

We have become more enlightened and our expectations have… well… they have "evolved" too!

It is not unusual for people to seek out this type of experience after a significant passage in life. It could be a health warning, or the loss of a loved one, even a significant milestone birthday. Others may just need to pause, reset and re-evaluate.

Sound familiar?

All of us have dealt with a lot of change in 2020. We have been asked to stay home to protect ourselves and others. The same place where people relax in the evening have been transformed into a working space. At home, kids were doing their daily homework, mom was talking over Zoom with her colleagues, and dad was trying to figure out an analytical process. Others who live alone are trying to adjust to a new way of meeting their friends and loved ones.

One thing is for sure. We will each get through it in our own way!

“Despite the lockdown, I have some clients who are already doing 2-3 day spa trips as an escape,” says DC Travel Advisor Anne Heintz. “But once we round the corner on COVID-19, I expect the demand for spa services to be off the charts in 2021.”

Miraval Resorts & Spas and Canyon Ranch are the two most popular dedicated health and wellness spa programs available to the US market. Their daily schedules consist of the perfect balance between physical therapy, mental health, and relaxing and fun activities.

Embracing their philosophy of wellbeing, Miraval Resorts & Spas help you improve your lifestyle. Activities include fitness to strengthen your body or outdoor adventures like mountain biking. The resort is also a place to recharge by practicing yoga and meditation or to identify your strengths and challenges by interacting with horses. Miraval Resorts & Spas nourishes you by offering hands-on cooking experiences, too.

Canyon Ranch offers you multiple programming and services throughout the day. Promoting healthy lifestyle goals, the experiences range from sporty and adventurous activities indoors, outdoors, in the water, or in the air... to active listening and awakening workshops about the secrets of sleeping soundly. Just add in a take-home tasting of fine chocolate to round things out.

In other words, Canyon Ranch orchestrates your connection to nature, to others, and to yourself.

Each of these wellness getaways has several properties in the USA. Both venues were named on the CN Traveler’s 2020 Reader’s Choice Awards and Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2020.

The experience of a wellness retreat makes people feel lighter and freer. A reloading with optimism and happiness is what many may need even more so after a year like this.

There’s an old Latin and appropriate saying: mens sana in corpore sano, or a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Because that’s the key to a good life!
