It has indeed been quite a while since we’ve been in touch. Actually, it’s been far too long since our last newsletter. Les and I have been beyond busy working, chasing grandchildren...and of course, me planning wonderful adventures for all of you.

What’s Hot! (in travel that is!)

With a good chunk of the country dealing with wicked weather, most of you have been using the time to plan your next “big” vacation in the summer or fall. Others are seeking more immediate relief, opting for a long weekend in warmer weather or even just a driving trip to a destination that specializes in pampering.

Italy remains a top choice for TravelAnne Explorers. I have some of you traveling to the Dolomites (which we are seeing a lot of with the Olympics presently going on), Sicily, and of course the standard “go to” destinations in the Amalfi Coast, Florence and Rome.

As part of that, “Active Travel” is trending right now, especially bike trips that are made so much more manageable thanks to electric bikes that do most of the work. I have some explorers cycling in Corsica, Sardinia, Vietnam and Greece, with more in the planning phase.

Cruising is also a hot commodity… including both river and ocean adventures. This includes “expedition cruises” that combine adventure with luxury. Our newsletter features new cruise ships operated by some of the best luxury resort brands on the planet. I encourage you to read it. Most of you, especially cruise aficionados, will find it quite interesting!

This Time from TravelAnne

This edition of TravelAnne is all-encompassing. In addition to our feature on cruising, we highlight a host of warm-weather destinations that will warm your soul during this frigid February and beyond. We also examine weekend getaways for couples based in the DMV (District, Maryland, Virginia). This region offers some wonderful options for a quick recharge.

We also have several ideas to consider for your next big adventure overseas… whether it be the Netherlands, Thailand, Costa Rica, or (of course) Italy.

Word to the Wise

We launched this newsletter almost 6 years ago, as people were locked in their homes, afraid to travel. My, how things have changed. I’m writing this column at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport. It’s Super Bowl Sunday, I’m waiting for my connecting flight, and the airport is packed! People are traveling again in larger numbers than I’ve seen in years.

This requires some patience, especially for those traveling long distances. But remember, travel is a state of mind that builds memories with those closest to you. Sure, airports are crowded, which can create stress. Deep breaths, my Explorers. Your adventure is just beginning, and the best is yet to come!

Let's start planning oyur adventure today!

As always,

Happy trails and keep believing in the journey!
