Rosewood Bermuda, Hamilton Parish $$$$$
Defined by pink sand beaches, epic golf, and the stunning coastline of Castle Harbour, Rosewood Bermuda stands alone with its commitment to charm, refinement, and, of course, luxury!
Why We Like It!
Rosewood Bermuda combines Yankee know-how with British showmanship. It has softened its initial calculated look with a vibe that is welcoming and presents a rare sense of luxury that demanding travelers adore.
The hotel is housed in a stately Manor House, with classic British-Colonial interiors. The facility looks the part, with multi-million-dollar villas cascading down the hillside through lush gardens on the edge of the water and pink-sand beaches. Still, the resort is not directly on the beach, and during the winter months, there is no free shuttle to the beach.
The resort’s Spa, Sense, is what you’d expect from Rosewood… outstanding! It’s 12,000 sq-ft of everything you could want or need. The main lounge and bar feature twin fireplaces and local art. It leads to a manicured lawn and horizon edge pool. A second pool overlooking Castle Harbor includes beds reserved for guests on the ground floor, who can open their sliding glass doors, cross their patios, and be at the pool in 10 seconds.
There are 92 rooms and suites, all of which have a fresh new look in a colonial style featuring chic fabrics and Italian linens. At a minimum of 500 square feet, the rooms are also some of the biggest on the island, so you’ll have plenty of space to stretch out after a day under the Bermuda sun.
Getting to the pink sand beach is a little more complicated. Guests are transported via shuttle, which takes about 10-15 minutes. Once there, you’re on the largest private beach in Bermuda and treated in a way you’d expect from Rosewood, with all the beach equipment available to rent. The property also includes a tennis club, the island’s premier golf course, a supervised kids club in season, and a beach club.
Azura Bermuda, Warwick Parish $$$$
Perched above Bermuda’s iconic South Shore, Azura Bermuda is a boutique hotel that blends relaxed luxury with sweeping ocean views. Built on the site of the former Surf Side Beach Club in Warwick, the property has been completely reimagined into a refined, cliffside hideaway.
Why We Like It!
Azura features just 21 guest accommodations, including studios, suites, and oceanfront residences. Each is light-filled and modern, with floor-to-ceiling windows, private terraces, and contemporary coastal décor. Whether you're booking a short romantic getaway or an extended stay, rooms feel more like stylish apartments than typical hotel units.
The infinity pool is the focal point of the property, offering panoramic views over turquoise waters and sun-drenched loungers perfect for all-day relaxing. Below the cliffs, a private stretch of pink sand beach offers quiet seclusion for swimming or unwinding by the surf.
One more thing about Azura's seaside pool. Vogue just named it as one of its 32 most scenic swimming pools in the world!
“The swimming pool is positioned right at beach level," wrote Vogue. "Which means you can take in the sound of crashing waves while peacefully wading around [perhaps accompanied by a refreshment from the property’s beach bar].”
But what really sets Azura apart is its intimate feel. With just 21 rooms and a team that offers warm, personalized service, the experience feels more like staying in a private seaside villa than at a traditional resort.
Azura is elegant without being overdone, quiet without feeling isolated, and scenic without a single bad view. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend, a solo retreat, or a work-from-anywhere escape, Azura Bermuda delivers understated luxury with an unforgettable backdrop.
Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa, Sandys Parish $$$$
Cambridge Beaches is the oldest cottage community in Bermuda, dating back to the 1700s. But don’t let that concern you. There’s a reason this property is high on our list! This 25-acre tropical estate commands a private peninsula at the far western end of Bermuda known as The Hook. Its location is far from the airport and civilization. That said, this resort is hardly a backwater.
Why We Like It!
The unrivaled spa gives this hotel the edge, especially in winter. Guests linger at the Beaches Clubhouse, which has lounges arrayed with antiques, fireplaces, plush carpeting, and panoramic windows. The bay-view lounge is particularly captivating and adjoins a terrace with cove views.
Guests dine on some of the best fare on the island—seafood and Continental dishes—in the spacious restaurant and alfresco spots. The Kenyan executive chef is infusing his own touches into the excellent menus here.
The beaches are beautiful, but the variety of pools plays a major role here as well, with an infinity-edge pool and lap pool with a jetted current offering relief from the norm.
The pale cottages, named after everything from flowers to former employees, shelter air-conditioned lodgings that range from elegant and new to older but trim. Very few cottage-style hotels are left on the island, making this one very special.
The hotel boasts privacy, and given the spread-out nature of the accommodations, the golf carts are much appreciated. Also, be advised that this property is a big draw for couples and honeymooners, and therefore, adults only most of the year.
The Loren at Pink Beach, Smith's Parish $$$$$
The Loren at Pink Sands takes a modernist detour that millennials and demanding travelers searching for a modern beachfront Babylon may prefer.
Why We Like It!
Situated on a rugged stretch of Bermuda's pink-sand coastline at the northern end of the island, 15-minutes' drive from the airport and about the same to the capital's center and Hamilton's tony shopping district, a short jaunt to the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo, this is the first from-scratch hotel to be built on the island in decades.
Guests here are paying around US$1,000 a night to sample sensational modern design, fine dining, and to-die-for designer digs aimed at almost unbelievably beautiful ocean vistas.
All of the common areas are primed with ocean views, and check-ins get a heady blue-water vista from the reception counter. Brass and teak tripod lamps pin the maritime tale on the lounge, which affords yet another brilliant ocean view.
The sensational accommodations, which frame ocean and island views, are large, even at the bottom of the tariff card, with the entry-level Deluxe rooms measuring 600 sq ft.
All of the units spy the water, and sitting areas and enormous, elegantly furnished alfresco spaces are all part and parcel here. Cushioned headboards with bedside power outlets and decadently soft bedding are the norm no matter what the room category.
Honeymooners and splurgers will do just fine at this buzzy resort, but you'll need to budget for the food and drinks as well as the room.
The Reefs, Southampton Parish $$$$
The Reefs and The Reefs Club section, are a luxurious option no matter how long you plan to stay. Its private residence club sits within a complex that shares the dining and recreational facilities of the hotel itself.
Why We Like It!
Owners and guests enjoy private pleasures that include an infinity-edge pool, rooftop putting green with views of the Atlantic, panoramic fitness center, and an owners' lounge with a pleasing modern setting, stunning ocean views, and a regulation billiard table.
Guests and owners of the Reefs Club share a private pink-sand beach with The Reefs, as well as all of the hotel's amenities, including the spa's Elemis-heavy treatment menu, restaurants, bars, and tennis courts, where guests have signing privileges and can opt into similarly priced meal plans as hotel guests. Non-motorized watersport equipment is also available.
Guest rooms come with poolside or cliffside views, although their decor is not as modern as the accommodations at the equally posh Azura.
All come with air-conditioning, ceiling fans and furnished terraces. Tiled floors, pastel-colored walls and beach-themed artwork are standard. Junior suites and larger Point suites add more living space but continue the same aesthetic. There are several two- and three-bedroom cottages in the gardens.
The St Regis Bermuda Resort, St George's $$$$$
In the historic town of St. George and near St. Catherine's Fort, this luxury resort is a welcome change for Bermuda. It is one of the few hotels on the island to offer points (Marriott Bonvoy) or the ability to redeem them for a stay.
Why We Like It!
The property commands enviable views of the turquoise water, beach and adjacent fort, first noticeable the moment you step inside the lobby. Its position next to a historic landmark also sets it apart from your traditional beach resort.
Two swimming pools (one is reserved for adults), a whirlpool, umbrellas and chairs on the beach, excellent dining, and an Iridium Spa are all part of the benefits. The fitness center, while well-equipped and with natural light, looks toward the parking lot.
A Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course is sure to draw golfers to the luxury resort, as will the resort’s casino.
Generous in size, even the entry-level rooms stretch for 650 sq ft. Views vary between garden exposures with no water view to ocean view with the water in the distance. The best are oceanfront exposures.
The St. Regis Bermuda Resort offers a sleek, upscale experience in one of the island’s beautiful, storied locales. With stylish lodgings, considerate extras, and friendly service, it’s a good bet for travelers seeking something a bit more polished. Whether you’re looking to relax by the water, connect with St. George’s, or simply have an upscale experience while you’re there, the resort does a refined version of coastal Bermuda.
