An Amazing Journey

TravelAnne gave me the amazing opportunity to grow as a creative writer this fall. Moreover, I have become a more conscious traveler. I’ll carry with me the professional as well as the personal insights in my baggage everywhere I go…

When I am writing down today’s date, I realize it’s the final week of my internship. For 3 months, I’ve been part of this amazing travel blog. During this experience, I learned a lot. I crafted different creative stories and got to know you a little bit more. Most importantly, I got involved with traveling as a practice…

Some of you might remember I’m writing from the comfort of my home in Belgium. Being a part of a blog focused on the gift of travel, while not being able to travel has been a thread through this whole experience. I’m happy to share the insights I gained throughout this journey.

I know a lot of you have been waiting for a very long time to come to Europe. As a European, I have been dreaming to visit the United States. This fall, I finally got the chance to go to Washington, D.C., for a professional experience. Of course, while being there, I had to explore the culture of the city. Its rich history, the monuments and memorials, and its amazing city life.

Unfortunately, my trip to Washington, D.C., has been delayed. My time being at home, and communicating and working with the other side of the world made me think about traveling from a whole new perspective.

Going through a long time of no traveling, but on the other hand getting to know many places and many components of traveling result in 2 insights for me. One, I can’t wait for the summer holiday, my favorite, to begin… And two, I have become more aware of the world around me.

There is so much to discover. There are so many stories about people in different cultures in different parts of the world living their way of life. That’s what I like the most about the world we’re living in. We all have our own understanding, but yet we’re all together.

The impact of Covid-19 has once again confirmed it. We’re one big team trying to beat it, so we can meet each other again and get to know more about each other.

Moreover, it’s amazing how we adapt ourselves to this virtual way of living, and yet keep on connecting with each other. We succeed in finding different ways to make it possible.

Cities from around the world have been innovating to offer virtual tours. The hospitality sector has been searching for alternative ways to give their guests a wonderful experience. Organizations have been looking for a way to start exploring again. I am very glad that I was a part of this!

I have always loved traveling and discovering different cultures and cities. When I get back to traveling again, I will definitely think about the travel perspectives I ascertained during my time as a writer for the TravelAnne blog.

The gift of traveling is something precious. I realize now how glad I am to be able to travel. There is still a lot to see and to discover. So, soon I will grab my luggage and take my time to travel.

In this final paragraph, I would love to thank the TravelAnne team for this great opportunity. I still remember the first sentences I wrote, and I can’t believe these are the last ones for the internship. You know what they say: time flies when you’re having fun…
