For those who’ve always wanted to travel into the cosmos, Oceania Cruises has a new route in mind — straight into the stars. In an exciting announcement, the luxury cruise line announced five new sailings scheduled to sail during the highly anticipated solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, with front-row traveling seats to nature’s fascinating spectacle.

Ranging from the coastlines of Ireland, Iceland, Portugal, and the United Kingdom, Oceania Cruises now has the largest offering of eclipse-focused sailings of any other cruise line in the world. At these once-in-a-lifetime reviews of the heavens, you'll find small-ship luxury, intimate shore excursions, and unique enrichment programs featuring world-renowned astronomers and NASA ambassadors.

Five Voyages. One Spectacular Sky Show

The linchpin of the lineup is the Oceania Marina, which is cruising for 14 days on its “Path of 100 Percent Totality” voyage from Copenhagen to Reykjavik. Sailing on July 30, 2026, the ship will visit lesser-known ports such as Invergordon and Scrabster in Scotland and Akureyri in northern Iceland. Watching the eclipse conditions in Grundarfjordur, Iceland, was a perfect time at an ideal location for the full solar experience. Noted astronomer Dennis Mammana will be on hand to provide context and lead stargazing sessions beneath the Arctic skies.

For a bit shorter trip, the Oceania Insignia will sail from Reykjavik, Iceland, to Southampton, England, on Aug. 3, 2026. This 12-day cruise follows the “Path of 97 Percent Totality,” visiting Irish ports including Killybegs, Dingle and Cork. The eclipse will occur out at sea off Glengarriff, Ireland with passengers in the company of Dr. Jerry Krassner, former NASA Space Shuttle Mission Specialist Application and “Wizard of Stars”.

For something a little further from home, the Oceania Vista features 25-days on a Grand Voyage roundtrip from London, departing August 2, 2026, with a 93 percent totality viewing near Belfast. From exploring subtropical gardens in Holyhead to having a pint in charming village pubs, this AoS-worthy itinerary has as much culture as cosmic significance. NASA Solar System Ambassador Ted Blank will be on hand to add to the experience with expert insights and constellational storytelling.

A second 15-day stretch of Vista’s journey also leaves Belfast on eclipse day, August 12, sailing through the British Isles and Baltic ports and wrapping up in London. Ports of call are Copenhagen, Scrabster and Berlin, serving guests historical intrigue as well comfortable onboard indulgence while viewing the partial eclipse on the open water.

And the Oceania Sirena will visit the Iberian Peninsula on a 12-day cruise from London to Barcelona on Aug. 5. Guests will witness the eclipse as they head out of Lisbon, Portugal, at 94 percent totality. Port cities on select sailings include Ferrol, Oporto and Almeria, with shore excursions including shepherd-for-a-day experiences, the chance to take a traditional river cruise and forest cycling.

A Celestial Celebration on the High Seas

Oceania isn’t simply giving spectators a ringside seat for the eclipse — they’re providing a full sensory experience. "On eclipse day itself, each of the three ships will be positioned in different locations to take the best advantage of the eclipse, with open air viewing decks at the ready, so that guests can have the best possible experience," the cruise line said in a statement. Look forward to “solar eclipse” cookies, star-shaped sandwiches and half-moon shrimp empanadas with chimichurri, as well as eclipse-inspired passion fruit macarons. It’ll be a beautiful bash with unforgettable views.

And thanks to the cruise line’s dedication to enrichment, travelers will be treated to expert lectures, Q&A sessions, and curated stargazing experiences on each journey. Whether you are a casual stargazer, commitment-phobic traveller or Oceania devotee, you’ll leave with more than photos and a handful of souvenirs … you’ll have a clearer picture of the universe, too.

Experience Beyond the Stars

And of course not all of these are cosmic cruises. Oceania's signature approach to small-ship luxury, individualized service, and destination immersion means even those sun-soaked days at sea feel far from ordinary.

Whether you’re sampling whiskies in Scotland, hiking across Icelandic lava fields or exploring the Iberian countryside by bike, each voyage includes tailor-made excursions and immersive cultural experiences. On board, you can look forward to incredible dining, spacious staterooms, and all the luxury for which the Oceania brand is known.
